Fire-Fighters have told us for decades that we must have smoke alarms and of course, they are right. However, what most people don't know, is that there are two completely different types of smoke alarms - ionization and photoelectic.
The public and the media is also unaware that Australia’s Smoke Alarm Standard (AS3786) has been formally acknowledged as being flawed. Empirical scientific evidence proves ionization smoke alarms, the type in almost every home (whether hard-wired or battery, new or old), “may not operate in time to alert occupants early enough to escape from smouldering fires.”
The International Association of Fire Fighters recently warned about ionization smoke alarms in 2008. and so has the Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authorities Council and the Fire Protection Association of Australia.
Tragically the message has STILL not reached the public.
Will the smoke alarms in your home give you the warning you need in a life-threatening fire?
Watch the 'Smoke Alarm Recall' film on our Home page, examine The Evidence and send in your ‘Smoke Alarm Disclosure Letter’ so you can discover the facts for yourself.
