Dear Mr Coleman

Do Aldi's D.E.L.T.A. Brand Smoke Alarms

Comply With Queensland Government Legislation?

I am writing to you as the head of Aldi's PR firm.

A PR disaster is looming for Aldi Australia.

Please examine the email chain below and this radio interview about Aldi, allegedly, ". . .profiteering and putting people's lives at risk."

Aldi's Australian Customer Service insists "This case has now been closed" (see below).

As Customer Service insist they "can't do so", would you kindly forward my email (copied below) to Aldi Australia's CEO, Mr Stefan Kopp.

This would be consistent with Aldi's 'Corporate Responsibility Principals' (page 4, para 4), i.e.

“We want to enable our customers to make informed choices by providing them with accurate and transparent information through clear product labeling and direct customer communications.”

There is a solution to this Aldi's pending PR problem.

I'd be happy to discuss it with you:

+61 (0)409 782 166

Please advise.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Adrian Butler

Two hours ago I sent a message care of customer service (copied below) to your CEO, Mr Stefan Koop. My message to Mr Koop apprised Aldi of life-safety and litigation concerns with your Delta brand ionization AND photoelectric smoke alarms.

Was my message forwarded to Mr Koop?

Dear Mr Koop

Do Aldi's D.E.L.T.A. Brand Smoke Alarms Comply With Queensland Government Legislation?

[ ref:_00D90qT8A._500901Zg7Hw:ref ]

I am writing further to my verbal complaint made to Aldi Customer Service on Friday of last week and your customer service agent's unsatisfactory response below.

There are serious life safety and litigation concerns in relation to Aldi's Delta brand smoke alarms that are being sold in Queensland and across Australia.

Our website, www.SmokeAlarmWarning.com explains why ionization smoke alarms are not safe.

Please note my email below and Aldi's official Media Statement (attached) where Aldi claims:

"Both ionization and photo electric (sic) smoke alarms went on sale at ALDI as part of our 8 March Special Buys.

We can confirm that both alarms comply with government legislation." (emphasis added)

I went into my local Aldi store on Saturday and purchased a twin pack of Aldi's allegedly-compliant-alarms (i.e. 'DELTA Fire Safety Photoelectric & ionization Smoke Alarm 2pk' - part number 0301-7319-02).

I asked the store manager if these alarms complied with Queensland's new photoelectric-only smoke alarm legislation.
She responded, "We wouldn't sell them if they didn't comply with the legislation."

Please advise if BOTH Aldis' ionization AND the photoelectric alarms purchased by me on Saturday comply with the Queensland government's photoelectric-only legislation (enacted 1 January 2017) as claimed by your staff member on 18 March 2017 and in your media statement of 16 March 2017 (attached).

Please respond at your earliest possible convenience.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Adrian Butler
